Care For Stoves

Usage:

  1. Never use metal utensils
  2. Always use plastic or wood implements

Cleaning:

  1. Always remove leftovers IMMEDIATELY!! Tomato is especially dastardly to your seasoning!!
  2. Soak in clear HOT water if you have any stuck food
  3. NEVER use soap or detergent
  4. Use a plastic scraper if needed (try to avoid this…)
  5. Scrub with a plastic brush after soaking
  6. Repeat soak and scrub as needed with clear hot water
  7. Rinse well with clear HOT water

Seasoning touch up:

  1. While HOT from cleaning:
  2. Dry with cloth towel (I recommend a brown color!!)
  3. Lather hands LIGHTLY with white Crisco
  4. Massage pot and lid to an oily sheen
  5. Place in oven UP SIDE DOWN for 4 Hours at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 a second time after the pot cools

Refreshing (or initial) Seasoning:

  1. Place pot UP SIDE DOWN in oven and run the oven on self-cleaning cycle.
  2. When the cycle is done the pot will have light rust patches on it
  3. Scrub the pot in HOT clear water with a METAL brush to remove rust
  4. Rinse with HOT clear water and repeat scrubbing until clean
  5. Dry with a cloth towel (I recommend a brown color!!)
  6. Lather hands LIGHTLY with white Crisco
  7. Massage pot and lid to an oily sheen
  8. Place in oven UP SIDE DOWN for 4 Hours at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  9. Repeat steps 6-8 A MINIMUM of 4 TIMES after the pot cools

Storage:

  • Do a touch up Seasoning, and you are good to go!
